Our Work with Youth and Schools
EmpowerMT believes every young person deserves a safe and welcoming learning environment. We provide peer-led violence prevention and anti-bullying training for students and professional development training for educators and staff. These workshops strive to assist schools in creating learning environments where students are valued for their unique selves, have the skills and confidence to be allies to one another, are seen and valued as leaders by peers and educators, and every student has the opportunity to achieve academic success.
In addition to providing tailored youth and educator training EmpowerMT provides after-school programs that seek to break isolation and build allies across group lines, understand the causes of oppression, strengthen connections to school through mentorship, and increase skills and confidence in diffusing conflict.
All EmpowerMT trainings and after school programs are designed as Montana Behavioral Initiative Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions. Our programs incorporate a comprehensive social and emotional learning based curriculum with cutting edge research and best practices from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), Developmental Asset Theory, Social Identity Development Theory, and Trauma Informed Organization Practices.
