Position Summary: The person in this position diligently records, accounts for, and tracks everything financial from both an accrual and a cash flow perspective. This person also ensures all bills and any reimbursements are paid in a timely manner.

Hours: 10-12 hrs/wk; flexible schedule; non-exempt
Some time periods will require more hours and some less hours.
Wage: $30-$35 per hour, depending on experience.
Reports to: The Director of Synergistic Operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts for, tracks, and posts all accounts receivable and accounts payable in a timely manner.
Fastidiously maintains records of all financial transactions in Quick Books.
Tracks and pays all bills and payroll including payroll taxes in a timely manner.
Ensures legal requirements compliance and follows accounting best practices.
Balances and reconciles general ledger every month.
Prepares monthly financial reports by the second week of the next month.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
Prepare annual 990 Tax Forms.
Oversees and is the main point of contact for financial audits as required.
Constantly works to improve accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintains historical records by filing documents.
Advocates for the Organization as necessary.
Special projects as needed.
Attends weekly staff meetings and organizational events as able.

Qualifications/Skills:
Deep working knowledge of QuickBooks.
Strong working knowledge of standard and accepted accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems for nonprofits.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented and able to prioritize.
Self-starter and consistently self-motivated.
Five years of nonprofit accounting experience are required.
Able to maintain complete confidentiality

Education:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
CPA is a plus.
